Tunez and Trendz is an upcoming blog that covers small, student, and independent artists. Dive into their craft with this reflective interview!

Paradoccs- What started Tunez and Trendz? What does the name of the blog mean to you?

Tunez and Trendz- Previously I worked for another company and thought I was helping small artists. I found out that my fellow co-workers were saying the

company was dedicated to small artists and using it as a marketing ploy in hopes of getting the most popular artists and being the next "Rolling Stone". And, while Rolling Stone is a great magazine, so few publications are actually dedicated to small artists. So I created Tunez and Trendz as a way to truly help! I decided on Tunez and Trendz because I wanted to make it

very clear that this was a music blog, with some lifestyle content sprinkled in and I realized the Z's as a replacement for S's made it sound cooler!

Paradoccs- So, we know that Tunez and Trendz caters to smaller, independent, and student artists. What inspired you to establish this specialty?

Tunez and Trendz- College is expensive. Running a brand is expensive. I know that there's so many great artists out there who simply can't afford to majorly market their own music. And most major labels see artists as a financial gain and actually profit off of the artists instead of helping. That's why you'll see an artist with a catchy song, consisting of poor quality lyrics, get picked up by a label, while artists who are pouring their hearts and souls into their music are left unnoticed. To me, that's not fair! I wanted to give a voice to the artists who truly deserve it; the ones who are using their platforms to create meaningful songs and not just another tasteless- money making- hit!

Paradoccs- Well how do you manage the workload, especially when trying to balance life and the blog? Do you have a way of deciding what artists to cover that helps with this?

Tunez and Trendz- This is a one woman project so it can get tough at times! I'd say my interview process really helps as I can always go back to the answers if I need to take a break and do something else. Once an artist gives me their biography or epk, I'm able to write some questions and send it over, get the answers back, and then put then in the correct format. Because of different time zones, there's often gaps in between steps when I'm able to get stuff done. As for chosing who to interview, while I do send dms/emails as well, most artists are actually submitting their work to me first! So I interview anyone as long as they fit the small, independent, or student criteria and whoever sends me answers first is the one I post first!

Paradoccs- You've gained hundreds of followers in just over a month- if you could choose three words to describe what got you there, what would they be?

Tunez and Trendz- Consistency, Thoughtfulness, and Dedication!

Paradoccs- We have different interview processes. In a fast-moving world, do you think question/answer document interviews are the most efficient way to gain insight on artists?

Tunez and Trendz- I work with artists in a variety of time zones. In fact, quite a few of my previous works were from Dublin, Ireland! So I'd say it's really helpful to do document based interviews so that I don't have to worry about the 6+ hr time difference!

Paradoccs- Is there an artist, song, or album that made you want to be a music joumalist?

Tunez and Trendz- Hmm, that's a great question! I wouldn't say there isn't one necessarily but with the previous company I was working in, I reached out to Maude Latour after hearing her album "Sugar Water" and got to write the interview by myself. Her kind words and faith in me really inspired me to keep going!

Paradoccs- What are your favorite things to do when taking a break from writing, researching, and publishing?

Tunez and Trendz- I'm always playing music! I also have a very lovely garden that I started completely from seed and quite a few house plants that I love taking care of!

Paradoccs- What advice would you give someone who is just starting a music blog in 2025

Tunez and Trendz- Just start writing! Don't worry about who reads it and who doesn't. Don't worry about the critics. Write what you want and your audience will find you!

Paradoccs- Are there any upcoming write-ups or exciting collaborations you're looking forward to that we can share?

Tunez and Trendz- Funny story actually! I have an interview with a lovely little band from Germany coming out soon! After booking the interview I found out that the guitarist of the band is none other than my brother in laws' partners' brother!

End of interview

Special Thanks to Tunez and Trendz for this awesome opportunity!
