Sage x Price and Tony22’s “Subtle” is a sleek, decorative shot at a resilient “goodbye”. Delicate strings dance through an auditory space wrapped in suede and booming with emotion. Velvet vocals hug a vibrant beat with somber lyricism that dips into pools of self doubt and romantic lament. This track copes with a detached farewell, whipped by the condition of return: be something subtle. An upbeat soundscape smooths the sharp edges of genuine lyricism as the track offers verses like “try to make you an option/ just to remind myself I haven’t lost it,” followed by the ache of the stellar chorus. The second half of the track contributed a confidence that deflects heartache and adapts through self-reassurance. The track ends with a remixed chorus that falls into a fade out. Sage x Price crafted a chorus so enthralling, you just have to replay it. At just 2 minutes and 18 seconds, this track is on “repeat” at Paradoccs.
Sage x Price grew up playing guitar and uncovered a talent for writing lyrics in a family of artists. His style is inspired by sample-based hip hop as he makes beats that engage and retain listeners. Sage used lyricism to cope with mental health struggles starting at age 15 and moved out of his home at just 16 to pursue a career in music. He released his first single “Guilt” in 2023 and worked with Tony22 on their June release “Subtle”. Tony22 is an artist from Austin, Texas, with over 136K monthly listeners on Spotify and millions of streams of his recent work.
