3 words: Classic, Curious, Reconsidered

With an intro reminiscent of Pinball Wizard, this reimagined track has particular, murky vocals with lyrics that detail the aging story of a relationship. “Shopping” begins with worn vocals and ringing strings to raise tension, sliced by a dated vocal style that is unmistakably uncommon. This dynamic is supported by a bending lead guitar that invites a sturdy duet by vocalists Aura and GoBirch. With an eccentric rock nature, “Shopping” revives classic sounds in a way that challenges genres and fuels inquiry. The track offers organic vocals with unshakable strings that creates a distinct sound. This indie-rugged take on 90s music involves a last-minute cool down that illuminates the plush side of Aura’s vocals, softening the track as it recedes. “Shopping” begins with a busy melody and closes with a more balletic run to stabilize the otherwise active song. The Fods’ lead guitar boasts an engaging control and fervor that pairs well with the vintage-influenced vocals that distinguish their music.
The Fods work from NW, UK, and NE USA, revisiting 90s music, reviving it alongside contemporary stand-out vocalists, and assigning a special sound to each track. They started the Don’t ARgue project in 2023, which reviewed the history of their label, Good Stock Records, to modernize songs of their same band name from the early 90s. The project ended in late 2024, but The Fods are still revolutionizing classic sounds by collaborating with modern artists today.
